How Cold Room Panels Support Temperature Control

Cold room panels form an insulated building envelope around temperature-controlled spaces. The insulated core reduces heat transfer through the walls and ceiling, while properly designed panel joints help limit air leakage and maintain the required internal conditions. Panel thickness and insulation-core selection should be based on the operating temperature, room size, environmental conditions and project requirements.

Why Choose Epack Cold Room Panels

Why Choose EPACK Cold Room Panels?

Thermal Insulation: Insulated cores help reduce heat transfer through cold-room walls and ceilings.

Insulation Performance: Selected PUF/PIR systems provide low thermal conductivity for temperature-controlled applications.

Fire Performance Options: Panel core selection can be matched to project-specific fire-performance requirements.

Efficient Installation: Factory-manufactured panels and tongue-and-groove joints can simplify installation and help reduce on-site construction time.

Durable Panel Construction: Suitable facing materials and properly designed panel systems support long-term performance in demanding environments.

Panel Construction & Materials

Cold room panels consist of an insulated core between protective outer and inner sheets. Depending on the selected configuration, facing options can include PPGI/PPGL, stainless steel or aluminium. Tongue-and-groove joint systems are designed to provide a close-fitting, airtight panel connection when correctly installed.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cold Room Panels

Cold room panels are insulated wall and ceiling panels used to construct temperature-controlled rooms and chambers. They are commonly used in food processing, cold-chain storage, pharmaceutical facilities, laboratories and other applications requiring controlled internal temperatures.

EPACK cold room panels can be manufactured with PUF/PIR insulation cores and selected configurations may also use Rockwool. Facing options include PPGI/PPGL, stainless steel and aluminium, subject to the selected panel specification.

Panel thickness depends on the selected panel type and project requirements. EPACK’s double-groove cold wall panels are currently offered in PIR/PUR thicknesses of 60, 80, 100, 120 and 150 mm, while other configurations have different available thicknesses.

Standard panel widths depend on the selected profile. EPACK’s double-groove cold wall panels are available at 1100 mm, with 950 mm available for certain large-volume requirements. Single-groove configurations have different width options.

Yes. Insulated cold room panels can be used for pharmaceutical storage and controlled-temperature environments where thermal insulation, hygienic surfaces and properly sealed joints are required. Final panel specifications should be selected according to the facility’s temperature, hygiene and regulatory requirements.

Fire performance depends on the insulation core, panel construction and applicable test standard. PIR and Rockwool configurations can provide enhanced fire-performance characteristics, subject to the specific product specification and certification. EPACK can provide relevant technical documentation for the selected panel.

Insulated cold room panels reduce heat transfer through the room envelope and can therefore help reduce the refrigeration load. Actual energy consumption depends on insulation thickness, room size, operating temperature, door openings, refrigeration equipment, ambient conditions and installation quality.

Panel thickness, width, facing material and other specifications can be customized for suitable project requirements and order quantities. Available options depend on the selected panel profile and manufacturing specifications.

Cold room panels are assembled using engineered joint systems such as tongue-and-groove configurations. Correct installation, joint sealing and detailing around doors, corners and penetrations are important for achieving the required thermal and airtight performance.

Cold room panels are generally used to construct insulated temperature-controlled rooms or chambers, while cold storage panels can refer more broadly to insulated panel systems used in larger cold-storage facilities and storage infrastructure. The appropriate panel specification depends on the size, temperature range, application and building configuration.
